William Jefferson Clinton, or simply President Bill Clinton, was impeached on Dec 20, 1998 for his efforts to cover up his affair with Ms. Monica Lewinsky, then a former White House Intern. Mr. Clinton became the only second President in history to be impeached, after Andrew Johnson in 1868. But Bill Clinton was the only “elected President” put on trial. Andrew Johnson succeeded to the White House on Abraham Lincoln’s assassination in 1865, so he wasn’t an elected president.

Back in 1998, internet was at its infancy and it was popularly known as World Wide Web or simply WWW instead. To access the internet, or rather WWW, you need a 9,600-bits dial-up modem to connect to the “world”. So, when rumours about Clinton’s sex scandal hit the public, it became the hottest news of the year instantly. It was hundred times bigger than the recent “iCloud Celebrity Photo Leaks”. After all, who is Jennifer Lawrence or Kate Upton compares to the President of the United States, right?

Clinton’s infamous public statement was – I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. Well, technically, he was correct and didn’t lie because there wasn’t any sexual intercourse between both individuals. Monica Lewinsky had merely engaged in “oral sex” with Bill Clinton several times. Yesterday, Monica Lewinsky spoke at the Forbes Magazine 30 Under 30 Summit about the affair that almost brought down the Bill Clinton administration.

President Clinton survived the impeachment when only 50 senators voted to remove him, when a two-thirds majority (67 senators) was required. During her emotional admission yesterday, Lewinsky, now 41, revealed how they started an affair that lasted – on and off – for 2 years. Apparently, Lewinsky had alleged that between November 1995 and March 1997, she had nine sexual encounters (oral sex) with then-President Bill Clinton.

Interestingly, while she declared she fell in love with her boss, she didn’t blame Clinton, although she deeply regret it for many reasons. “Overnight, I went from being a completely private figure to a publicly humiliated one. I was Patient Zero,” Lewinsky said. She described herself as the first person to have their reputation completely destroyed worldwide via the Internet. Lewinsky explained what motivated her to speak was a campaign against cyber intrusions.

Looking back on her experiences, Lewinsky explained how prosecutors threatened to go after her mother of she didn’t cooperate and wear a wire, which she claimed she didn’t. She also talked about how everybody – Internet (pre-Google-age), Ken Starr, Drudge Report, NY Post’s Page Six, hamsters and practically everybody – except the married President with whom she had oral sex, were to be blamed for her sufferings all these years.

It was nice that she called herself a survivor but she should also realize, at least by now that she’s already 41-years-old, that she wasn’t really a victim of cyber-bullying. Rather, she was a victim of having sexual relations with a person who was then the most powerful on planet Earth. And she should also take notes that Mrs Clinton – Hillary Rodham Clinton – was and still can’t forgive what she had done to his hubby and their marriage.

Considering Hillary Clinton could be running for the presidency, Lewinsky’s latest public speech since she last spoke 13 years ago couldn’t come at a better time. Nevertheless, Monica Lewinsky, who joined Twitter less than two hours before taking the stage at the Forbes conference has since gained more than 58,000 followers (and counting) with only 3-tweets, and a standing ovation.
