The rape scandal by Malaysian diplomat to New Zealand has entered a new phase. Despite the “promise” by the Malaysian government to send back the diplomat – Muhammad Rizalman bin Ismail, 38 – to stand trial in the Kiwi land, he is still in Malaysia. And the fact that Rizalman is asking for a delay because he wants to “enjoy” his Ramadan and most likely the Aidil Fitri festival before taking his flight is most amusing and interesting.

It was also amazing because a source at Tuanku Mizan Military Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, where Rizalman has been warded since Tuesday, told the Herald that the diplomat was “not looking good” and might need further psychiatric evaluation. Haven’t we said this before – don’t count your chickens (or rather Rizalman in this scandal) before they’re hatched (*grin*)?

Behind the scene, it seems Malaysian government is still negotiating with John Key administration on the type of charges (and punishments) to be sentenced on Rizalman. If indeed Rizalman was a good “military spy”, then Malaysian government will do all it can to minimize the damage to protect its valuable “asset”. Have you ever wonder why Najib administration outsourced extremist mouthpiece, Perkasa, is deadly silent on this matter?

Will we get to read that Rizalman is mentally disturbed hence not fit to stand trial in New Zealand until a period where his condition improves for the better? That would be an awesome piece of development, won’t it? Anyway, what makes Rizalman or other diplomats any different from the ordinary Joes’ and Janes’? The answer – their “Diplomatic Passport”, of course. This passport gives you “diplomatic immunity”.

After diplomatic passport, the second most powerful passports will be the countries which issue the 3×5 inch paper booklet. Do not underestimate the power or value of your passport. The more powerful your passport is, the higher value it carries, so much so that certain citizens were creative enough to sell their passport for fast bucks. For example, Malaysia passport can be sold easily for RM20,000 and above in the black market.

So, how do you measure how powerful your passport is? Simple – by knowing how many countries you can visit using that passport – either visa-free or getting visa-on-arrival. In a nutshell, Europeans, North Americans and Australians have the best access to the world. And nope, the American passport is not the most powerful on the planet Earth.

World's Most Powerful Passport - United Kingdom Passport

The most powerful passports are from three countries – Finland, Sweden and United Kingdom because the holders can visit a whopping 173 countries, enjoying visa-free access or visa-on-arrival facility. United States, together with Denmark, Germany and Luxembourg were only at second spot with the ability to visit only 172 countries. The least powerful passports are Afghanistan and Iraq, both can visit 28 and 31 countries respectively.

Well, actually that is not quite true. The least powerful passport is from “State of the Islamic Caliphate”, the newly self-proclaimed  state by  the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The terror group ISIS has just announced that the new document will be distributed to 11,000 citizens living in cities bordering Iraq and Syria. This will make the passport the least powerful with, well, zero country that you can visit – for the time being.

But that is about to change if the caliphate could spread from Aleppo in northern Syria to Diyala in eastern Iraq to the rest of the world in their grand plan. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had called on Muslims with military, medical, engineering, managerial skills and whatnot to flock to its newly-declared pan-Islamic state. There’s another reason why passports from “State of the Islamic Caliphate” will be the next most powerful passport in the world.

The passport comes with a special privilege – at the bottom of the new passport, it says “The holder of the passport if harmed we will deploy armies for his service” (*tongue-in-cheek*). We’re not sure if Malaysian prime minister has applied or plans to apply for this passport, considering he was attracted to the “ISIS government”, so much so that he recently told his UMNO members to learn and be brave like ISIL fighters.
