The worst terror attack on U.S. soil since 9/11 offered a new life to Donald Trump, whose attack on a “Mexican” judge saw his ratings dropped a little behind Hillary Clinton. Trump had grilled federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel who was presiding over one of the two class action lawsuits pending against Trump University.

 

Trump demanded the judge recuse himself because he was a “hater” who had been nominated by President Obama. Besides trumpeting about building the Great Wall of Mexico, and make the Mexicans pay for it, Trump kicked off his campaign last year claiming that Mexico was sending “rapists” and people who are “bringing drugs” to America.

Politicians – both Republicans and Democrats – slamming federal judges is nothing new. But what makes Trump’s case special is the lawsuit involves and will impact Donald personally. Because federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel delivers negative ruling, Trump was pretty furious so he went berserk.

 

A coalition of civil rights groups planned to hold an event Monday attacking Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for his rhetoric against Mexicans, Muslims, Hispanics or Latinos. Thanks to the Orlando Islamic terrorist attack which saw at least 51 people killed and 53 others wounded, the event has been cancelled. What does this tell you?

This means the U.S. presidential election landscape has changed, in favour of Donald Trump. To be precise, shooter Omar Mateen (full name: Omar Mir Seddique Mateen) had handed a silver bullet on a silver platter to Trump, a supposedly Muslims and Mexican enemy. For now, national security and terrorism are the major battlegrounds.

 

And you can bet your last penny that Trump will get more bombastic about American nationalism. He will capitalize to the fullest on the issue of national security and terrorism. “Damn, Trump was right again”, would be the favourite quotes amongst his fans and haters. Damn, the year 2016 must be a good year with awesome “feng shui” for Donald Trump.

Political analysts have warned for months that a major negative event or crisis, such as a domestic terrorist attack similar to 9/11, or a U.S. economic recession, could debunk the conventional wisdom and prediction that Hillary Clinton is assured of beating Donald Trump to become the first woman president of the United States.

 

Didn’t they say a week is too long a time in politics? And Trump had indeed made one hasty move which cost him a lot – his attack on the Mexican judge. But that is water under the bridge now. Radical Muslim Omar Mateen had answered ISIS’ call to attack Florida and he had successfully killed at least 51 gays at gay club Pulse Nightclub. But he saves Trump in the process.

Essentially, Trump is given a fantastic diversion and a license to use the most deadly shooting in U.S. history as ammunition to ramp up his nationalist agenda against what he terms “radical Islamic terrorism”. Well, don’t blame him. Blame both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for being too cowardly to say the 3 simple words.

 

Trump tweeted after the attack at Orlando, Florida – “What has happened in Orlando is just the beginning. Our leadership is weak and ineffective … Is President Obama going to finally mention the words radical Islamic terrorism? If he doesn’t he should immediately resign in disgrace!”

Clinton and Obama condemned the slaughter in Florida as “terror” and “hate” against gays and lesbians at the nightclub. Sensing Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric is heating up (again), Obama later urged Americans to “not give in to fear or turn against each other”, while Clinton told Americans to “stand together” and stay “true to our values”.

 

It appears Obama and Clinton is both rhetoric king and queen too, similar to Trump. Which part about the Orlando terrorism that both Democrats don’t understand? The slaughtering happens and will happen again, no matter how united and brave Americans are. The killing has little to do with gun control, as what Obama also tries to blame.

The proof? Omar Mateen was previously twice investigated by the F.B.I. for terrorism links but not only was he allowed walking on the street a free man, until he starts pumping bullets into more than 100 Americans, but he was also employed by the security contractor G4S Secure Solutions USA Inc. since Sept. 10, 2007.

 

Amusingly, while Obama and Clinton were foaming on the mouth about taking guns away, they conveniently ignore cases like Omar Mateen, who held two firearms licenses and a security officer license, could easily terrorise Americans – with or without gun control. So, how does Obama plans to stop people like Mateen who possess such privilege from shooting indiscriminately?

Together with San Bernardino attacks in California last December, both cases are a clear cut of terrorism carried out by Muslims who have been radicalized. Like it or not, Trump is right to call for Obama’s resignation due to the president’s cowardice in mentioning the words “radical Islamic terrorism.”
