Dow Jones is skyrocketing as we speak now, something which is expected as today is the first trading day in the New Year 2010 after the stock market closed last Friday for the celebration. Weakening dollar help push the stocks as well as commodities higher especially the black oil which has risen above $80 a barrel today. Suddenly all the good news was gushing out as if everything is on the track of recovery.
The talk is that you need to wait for Ben Bernanke to raise the interest rate to confirm that the U.S. economy is gaining momentum and recovery is indeed for real. However if you have read what Morgan Stanley analyst has written – the interest rate may not go up any sooner now considering that two economic events namely non-farm payroll growth and the peak in ISM new orders minus inventories have “not” happen yet. Only after these two events have taken place would the Federal Reserve raise interest rate of which by then the recession is officially over. So if you don’t mind waiting for the cows to come home *grin*.
Anyway, investors are having good time with the technology stocks which in the recent weeks seem to be spiking. The latest of course is the rumor that Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL, stock) will be releasing another cool gadget which would keep the sales momentum going after the iPhone. This gadget is actually a tablet and the latest news has it that this mouth-watering must-have 10.1 inch multi-touch screen with 3-dimensional graphics device will be yours at under $1,000. Ex-Google China President and former Apple exec Kaifu Lee claimed he heard that Apple will ship 10 million units of the tablet which comes with virtual keyboard and video conferencing capabilities in 2010.
Financial Times also reportedly said Apple has rented a stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and is expected to reveal the product on Tuesday, 26th Jan 2010. Some predicted the tablet will be called iSlate and cost about $800 but would be available only in April 2010 but there’re also rumors that Microsoft is planning to launch it’s own version of tablet called Courier as well.
This rumor about Apple’s tablet has better become reality because the stock has skyrocket in anticipation of the latest device from the secretive company. Should the rumor become another hoax, get ready for the stock to be slaughtered. While some said the tablet is for real, some said it could be a plan to push up the stock price ahead of its earnings announcement scheduled on 20th Jan 2010.
