Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni, Dalerdzhon Barotovich Mirzoyev and Muhammadsobir Fayzov were four terrorists who stormed the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, a northern Moscow suburb, before spraying bullets on some 6,000 people who were attending a rock concert. The gunmen also set fires which engulfed the venue and caused the roof to collapse.

 

The terror attack on Friday (March 22, 2024) saw 139 people brutally murdered, including 3 children, and more than 100 injured. Russian FSB (Federal Security Service), the successor of the Soviet Union’s KGB, said 11 suspects have been detained in the deadliest terrorist attack since the 2004 Beslan school siege – when Islamist terrorists took more than 1,000 people, including hundreds of children, hostage.

 

An affiliate of ISIL (ISIS) – Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) – that operates in Afghanistan and Iran has not only claimed responsibility, but proudly released bodycam footage that showed how the terrorists cold-bloodedly killed wounded men and women while saying “show no mercy” and “kill them all”. However, they had no idea how brutal the Russians can be when provoked.

When the four men – all of whom are citizens of Tajikistan – were brought to court in Moscow on Sunday (March 24), their faces were so swollen and disfigured that it was hard to believe they were once the arrogant and brutal ISIS terrorists. Clearly, they had been tortured and beaten, and the Kremlin did not even bother to hide it. Instead, Russia deliberately released videos of how they were tortured.

 

Saidakrami, with black eyes, was seen with his sliced ear heavily bandaged in the court. A video of the 30-year-old terrorist having his ear cut during interrogation and shoved in his mouth has gone viral. In the gruesome 24-second footage, the bearded man lies on his chest with his hands bound, while a Russian military personnel cuts off his right ear and forced him to eat his own flesh.

 

In another video, apparently recorded after the butchering of his ear, the right side of his head is covered with blood due to a missing ear. Another video shows his head bandaged, but still soaked with blood. A voice was recorded saying – “Answer as best as you can. I’m right here. You have only one ear left!” Prior to the torture, he was seen crying and screaming on the ground as Russian soldiers beat him with the butts of their guns.

The story didn’t end there. The Russian security service man who used his six-and-a-half inches long knife to cut off the terrorist’s ear has put his blade up for auction – promoted as “ear-cutter” – with part of the funds to be channelled to a charity account for victims of the terrorist attack. In the Moscow’s court, Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda obediently admitted guilt for the attack.

 

A second terrorist, Shamsidin, suffered a similar fate after a photo of his torture was shared by a Telegram channel connected to the Wagner paramilitary group. He appeared lying on the gym floor, where his pants pulled down around his knees with military field telephone TA-57 wires connected to his genital area. While being electrocuted with 80 volts till he foamed at the mouth, water was poured over his body to “intensify the effect”.

 

Believed to be the ringleader, 25-year-old Shamsidin Fariduni’s face was also seen all bruised and swollen from severe beatings. While electrocution torture technique has been commonly reported by detainees in Russia, this is perhaps the first time that FSB openly parades and demonstrates such interrogation method for all and sundry to see.

Dalerdzhon Barotovich Mirzoyev, meanwhile, arrived at the court with new bruises after his interrogation. He also had a plastic bag wrapped around his neck that might have been used to asphyxiate him – a torture technique where a person has a bag wrapped around his head to suffocate him. Like Saidakrami, 32-year-old Dalerdzhon has also admitted guilt at the Russian court.

 

Muhammadsobir Fayzov, the fourth terrorist aged 19, was brought into the courtroom in a wheelchair with his eyes closed, and appeared to lose consciousness during the hearing. Wearing hospital gown and trousers and was seen with multiple cuts, he was attended by medics while in court. However, photographs circulating online appeared to show that one of his eyes was missing.

 

It’s not hard to see why there is no sympathy in Russia for the terrorists. However, the fact that Russian media were allowed to report that the terrorists were tortured during interrogation by the security services suggest that President Vladimir Putin wanted the enemies, especially the Ukrainians and even NATO forces, to see the consequences of going to war with Moscow.

This is perhaps why military superpower United States dares not send troops to Ukraine to fight Russia. Rambo only exists in Hollywood. In reality, John Rambo can’t possibly survive the types of torture of Russian forces, let alone escaping captivity. The brutal torture being shown by FSB was designed to intimidate the Western nations from sending more troops into Ukraine.

 

Putin told senior officials that “we know the crime was committed by the hands of radical Islamists, followers of an ideology that the Islamic world itself has been fighting against for centuries”. But while the ISIS has admitted to the terror attack, the Russian president believes there are more than meets the eyes. Russian FSB says the U.S., U.K. and Ukraine were behind the Moscow attacks

 

President Putin is leveraging on the attack to drum up domestic support and to rally the people after two years of war in Ukraine. While the Kremlin cannot brag about those being tortured in the Ukraine War, it’s a different story with the ISIS terrorists. That’s because the West, despite screaming democracy and human rights, will find it hard to defend the “barbaric” attack.

But the best part was not how Russia shows its middle finger to human rights activists and published the torturing of the Islamist terrorists. The best part was when members of the FSB security service and the GRU military intelligence, as well as soldiers engaged in torture were congratulated – even given medals and awards for “bravery” and “military distinctions”.

 

While Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said the suspects “deserve no mercy”, ex-president Dmitry Medvedev said – “Well done to all those who caught them. Should they be killed? They should be. And will be. But it’s much more important to kill everyone involved. Everyone. Those who paid, who sympathised with them, who helped them. Kill them all.”

 

Still, the burning question is why Moscow had ignored warnings from Washington in recent weeks of the possibility about an attack. Like the devastating October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel, it’s hard to believe that Russia didn’t know about the ISIS terrorist attacks before it happened. President Vladimir Putin, like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, most likely allowed the attacks to happen for the same reason.

The Hamas attacks provide a justification for Israel to start a war on Gaza and eliminate Hamas, as well as a great political tool for Netanyahu to rally the Israelis behind him. Likewise, the ISIS attacks would provide Russia with an even stronger justification about the invasion of Ukraine, as well as legitimizing Putin’s earlier warnings that foreign powers were seeking to sow chaos in Russia.

 

The simple fact that the four suspects were successfully detained in the western Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, obviously proves that not only the FSB and GRU were well prepared to intercept the radical Islamists, but knew what to do with the terrorists. Crucially, the attacks are being linked to the U.S. and its allies to justify an even tougher strike on Ukraine and total mobilization on Russia.

 

Hinting that Western spy agencies also could have been involved, Alexander Bortnikov, head of the Federal Security Service ( FSB), said – “We believe that radical Islamists prepared the action, while Western special services have assisted it and Ukrainian special services had a direct part in it”.  More importantly, Russia wants the world to know how the security services “had fun” with the terrorists as much as they could.
