What The Arabs Don’t Want You To Know – How Israel Secretly Saved Egypt From ISIS

Egypt was one of Muslim countries which fought Israel during the Six-Day War in 1967. The Egyptians, alongside Jordanians and Syrians, of course, lost the war. While Muslim countries consistently drum up propaganda via state-controlled mainstream news media about the evil Israeli regime, the truth is more complicated and trickier than that.

Ordinary Muslim folks, mostly ignorant and kept under control by their leaders by invoking Islam, are led to believe that the Jews are the source of every single problem in the Middle East. In truth, thanks to distinct theological differences between Sunnis and Shias, the Muslims have been killing each other for more than 1,400 years. And they are still doing that today.

That’s why Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a 32-year-old favourite son of King Salman, paid a secret visit to Israel. Saudi Arabia, the leader of Sunni-Muslims on planet Earth, believes that Iran, the leader of Shia-Muslims, is a bigger threat than the Jews, supposedly the biggest enemy of Islam as spewed by their propaganda machines.

And that’s also why Egypt has been keeping it a secret – until now – how they gave green light to Israel to conduct military airstrikes “inside” the nation. Yes, it’s fabulously insane to think that after the Six-Day War about 50 years ago, a day would come where the Egyptian invites long-time enemy Israeli into their country to protect its sovereignty.

Two years after President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi led a military takeover promising to restore order and security in Egypt, he faces a new challenge – a rising ISIS jihadist insurgency. The terrorists had already killed hundreds of soldiers and police officers in Egypt’s Northern Sinai. The scale and complexity of the attack far exceeded Egyptians’ ability to fight back.

While the world was focusing on war against Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL, IS) in Iraq and Syria, almost nobody realized how the militants were winning in Egypt. With only a few within a limited circle of military and intelligence officers knew about the secret alliance between Israel and Egypt, the Israeli military has conducted more than 100 airstrikes inside Egypt since 2015.

ISIS militants were ultimately defeated after Egyptian military called in warplanes and helicopters, conducting airstrikes that killed many of the terrorists. At least that was what ordinary Egyptians were led to believe. The real story, however, is rather mind-blowing. The Egyptian government had actually engaged and invited Israel powerful military to help secure the country.

As revealed by the New York Times, when the Egypt was unable to stop the barbarian ISIS, Cairo had no choice but to call in an unexpected cavalry – giving blessing to the Jews to enter their territory. For more than 2 years, unmarked Israeli drones, helicopters and fighter jets have carried out a covert air campaign – all with the approval of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The remarkable cooperation marks a new stage giving birth to what is now known as secret allies – between Egypt and Israel – in a covert war against a common foe. But why would Israel care to help Egypt? Apparently, it won’t be in the interest of Israel if Egypt eventually collapsed. Israel was concerned and alarmed at the threat of ISIS just over the border.

It was a win-win solution. Israeli intervention has helped the Egyptian military regain its footing in its nearly 5-year battle against the ISIS. Israel, on the other hand, has bolstered the security of its borders and the stability of its neighbour. Of course, neither Israeli nor Egyptian officials would confirm such cooperation ever existed for obvious reason.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi would be in trouble if he admits his government had granted Jews access into the country. The president would be called a traitor who had committed treason for giving away the nation’s sovereignty. But shared enemies such as ISIS and Iran are precisely why the Arab states have been relatively quiet about Israel recognition by President Trump recently.

Quietly, Arab leaders knew they need Israel more than Israel needs the Arabs – even though their news media continue to condemn the Jewish state in public. Had the Israel not seen the bigger picture and helped Egypt, the Muslim nation could suffer the fate of Syria or Iraq today – mass destruction of cities, collapse of economy, skyrocketing of refugees and whatnot.

Israel Drone

To conceal Jews’ role in the airstrikes for fear of a backlash inside Egypt, Israeli drones are unmarked, and the Israeli jets and helicopters cover up their markings. According to American officials, some even fly looping routes to create the impression that they are based in the Egyptian mainland. To ensure news blackout, journalists were barred from entering “military zone” North Sinai.

Hence, when then-Secretary of State John Kerry conducted a secret summit in February 2016 trying to get Jordan and Egypt to guarantee Israel’s security as part of a deal for a Palestinian state, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu laughed at the idea. If Egypt couldn’t even protect its territory from ISIS, how could the Muslim nations guarantee security for Israel?
