Previously they were boasting about their wealth as the “Rich Kids of Instagram”. Now, they’ve taken a step further by having their “Rich Kids of Snapchat” on the Facebook. Currently they’ve over 240,000 “likes”. Their purpose – regularly update “stories” about their wealth by (shamelessly) showing off their Lamborghini, cash, Rolex watches, taking exotic trip via private jet and what not.
The Facebook page was started by an anonymous teen, who claimed to be enormously wealthy after he began trading stock market and commodities at the age of 12 (Warren Buffett should learn from him, obviously). It could be a great marketing plan but nevertheless, the facebook page owner invites every Tom, Dick and his hamster to add him on Snapchat so that he can send them photos of his supposedly lavish lifestyle.
To add to his inventories, he also accepts photos from other rich kids’ lifestyle, of which will be added to his Facebook and Instagram pages. Besides “Rich Kids of Instagram”, there is also “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills” and is toying with “Rich Kids of New York”. Seriously, they should trade-marked this and make a television series, which could churn out more money, assuming they’re not sick and tired of it already.
Just like Kardashians who frequently showing off their prodigal lives in exchange for publicity and popularity, “Rich Kids” versions could have the same objectives. Besides, it would be superbly boring to be rich but nobody knows about it, no? In order to create more publicity, some of the photos from “Rich Kids of Instagram” deliberately make fun of the average Joes’ and Janes’ – referring them as “peasants”.
Amusingly, these “rich kids” often receive negative and sarcasm comments in their Facebook page. But that was exactly the purpose – to generate publicity regardless whether it was positive or negative. Didn’t they say no publicity is bad publicity? That was how Jordan Belfort did it in the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” – funded by Malaysia PM Najib Razak’s stepson, Riza Aziz – acted by Leonardo DiCaprio.
As much as people were angry with how these spoiled annoying rich kids waste their money and insult other non wealthy people, their postings are quite entertaining. You may admire or jealous about their wealth (or rather their lucky lives to be borned as one) but at the same time, you couldn’t help but to think if their lives are worthwhile, considering their shallow, ridiculous and rather stupid mentality.
