Roads were empty while thousands of pubs were filled to brim. It was a do or die match for England against Uruguay, a team that England have never beaten before at the World Cup. While England was hoping Rooney could score, or at least make himself useful, Uruguay was delighted that Luis Suarez returned to boost their team’s confidence.

The final score – England were beaten 2-1 by Uruguay. Well, it wasn’t that bad as compared to Spain’s humiliating defeat. England fans were not too optimistic about their chance in the first place. The only consolation was Wayne Rooney scored an equaliser goal after Luis Suarez put Uruguay team ahead earlier. But Suarez’s 85th minutes goal broke England fans heart, once and for all.

It’s not known if Uruguayan Luis Suarez who plays for English club Liverpool would be whacked by British die hard fans after the world cup (*grin*), but he did receive tons of boos by English fans during the match though. Well, we supposed Rooney’s wife and son – Coleen and Kai – presence were not enough to make the superstar scores more than Luis Suarez.

After two defeats – first to Italy and now to Uruguay – England team can start packing even though there’s another “ceremonial” match left against Costa Rica. This could also spell the end to roaring business enjoyed by supermarket and pubs, with an estimated 25 million England fans glued to screen for the England-Uruguay match.

Interestingly, this is the first time England has ever lost both its opening two matches in a World Cup. But wait, there’s still a remote chance England could still proceed to the second round. England needs to pray that Italy win both of their next two games – against Costa Rica and Uruguay – after which Italy would have 9 points.

If England can then beat Costa Rica, all three teams – England, Uruguay and Costa Rica – will have 3 points. Then to qualify for second place in this Group-D, goal difference will decide the lucky winner. In short, England and Italy need to win their next games, and in combination they need to score three goals against Costa Rica. If Italy beat Costa Rica 1-0, then England needs to beat it by 2-0.

So, will England lives to fight another day? Well, they may get their wish if the whole country stay united and beg their Queen to grant Italian star, Mario Balotelli, his demand for a “KISS” from the Queen. Balotelli tweeted that if the (Italian) team help England by beating Costa Rica, he wants a kiss, obviously on the cheek, from the UK Queen (*tongue-in-cheek*).

Balotelli scored the winner point when Italy beat England last week, and if there’s one person who can score again to beat Costa Rica, that person has to be him. So what shall it be my Queen? Are you willing to sacrifice your precious kiss for the future of 25 million (at least) British fans? We just need one kiss, not a single less, not a single more. Pleaseeeeeee !!!
