People were furious when they learned that former corrupt Prime Minister Najib Razak and his spendthrift wife Rosmah Mansor were about to fly out of the country today (Saturday, May 12). Scheduled to take off from Subang Airport to Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in the Indonesian capital at 10 a.m. local time, it was feared that the former PM would flee and never return.

Reuters revealed that the flight manifest of a private jet names Najib Razak and his wife as passengers. The private jet, belonging to Premiair is owned by none other than Indonesian tycoon Peter Sondakh, the same owner of PT Rajawali Corp. whose company Eagle High Plantations sold 37% of its stake to Felda for US$505.4 million last year.

The deal was criticised as a bailout since Felda, pressured by Najib regime, was forced to pay an insane premium of 95% to the Indonesian businessman, whose relationship with Najib is a public knowledge. Felda paid IDR580 per share while the latest share price is IDR174 – a lost of 70%. Essentially, Felda is sitting on a paper loss of US$353.5 million (RM1.4 billion).

Najib Razak and Rosmah Mansor - Raining Money

The Wall Street Journal splashed that the new Malaysian leadership of Mahathir Mohamad would prevent Mr. Najib, arguably the world’s biggest crook, from leaving the country. Initially, Malaysiakini revealed that both Najib and his wife were on a no-fly list, based on checks on the Immigration Department’s Travel Status Enquiry System (SSPI) using their identity card numbers.

However, Immigration Director-General Mustafar Ali had rubbished the claim. Before leaving, Najib posted on his Facebook page that he would take a short break to spend time with his family. Dozens of people and members of the press rushed to the airport, in what appeared to be an attempt to “catch” the couple from fleeing the country.

The drama took an amusing twist when the Immigration Department’s SSPI database suddenly showed both Najib and Rosmah could fly, only to make a U-turn after more than 2 hours later, which now shows that the former most powerful couple in Malaysia have indeed been blacklisted. So what actually happened in the immigration department?

Immigration Director-General Mustafar Ali

Perhaps Immigration Director-General Mustafar Ali didn’t get the memo that Mahathir wants Najib to be barred from leaving the country. However, based on how the status of Najib and Rosmah were changed in the department’s database – from “blacklisted” to “cleared” to “blacklisted” again – it appears little Napoleons in the department had tried to facilitate Najib’s “holiday”.

Otherwise how do you explain the initial status of Najib and Rosmah being blacklisted could subsequently changed to “cleared” after unveiled by Malaysiakini? When someone is on a no-fly list, the status shown in the database would show “sila rujuk ke pejabat Imigresen terdekat (please refer to the nearest immigration office)” while for those allowed to fly are tagged “tiada halangan (no obstacle)”.

Najib finally confirmed in a tweet – “I’ve just been informed that the Immigration Department is not allowing me and my family (from travelling) abroad. I respect the directive and will be with my family in the country.” Newly sworn in Prime Minister Mahathir has now confirmed that it was him who issued the order to prevent former premier Najib from leaving the country.

RAHMAN Prophecy - Najib Razak Jailed by Mahathir

Although Mahathir, in a press conference, has pledged not to take revenge, preventing Najib and Rosmah from flying out of the country was a correct decision. Days before the polling date, Mahathir said his administration would engage “Interpol” to hunt down Najib if he fled the country. However, it’s also true that precious time will be wasted with extradition process involving other countries.

The sight of Malaysians trying to stop a Toyota Vellfire with heavily-tainted windows (which turned out to be MP Shahidan Kassim’s) at the Subang Airport speaks volumes about how angry people were with Najib and Rosmah. Therefore, even if Mahathir wanted to, he can’t allow Najib to fly out of the country. Someone should tell Najib that his misfortune has just begun.

Mahathir has also instructed police to unseal 1MDB audit report, paving way to expose all the secrets associated with Najib’s thievery which he had hidden using OSA  (Official Secrets Act). But this is just the first step. The U.S. Department of Justice, previously hitting roadblocks in their investigation due to uncooperative Attorney General Apandi Ali, is expected to seek Mahathir’s cooperation.

1MDB Scandal - How Najib Becomes A Billionaire and Fund His Wife’s Diamonds

The U.S. Department of Justice acknowledges that the 1MDB represents the largest action brought under the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative, involving stolen money of more than US$4.5 billion. Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, was also exposed to have had bought a 22-carat pink diamond necklace costing a jaw-dropping US$27.3 million (RM117 million) – traceable to the stolen money.

Mahathir is expected to work together with U.S.-DOJ because if he refuses to – for whatever reason – it would be hard for the Malaysian government to claim assets seized by the United States which were plundered by Najib and his family members. Hence, Mr. Najib is looking at prosecution from both Malaysia and America. But Mahathir will get to taste the meat first.

Aside from 1MDB scandal, there are tons of other wrongdoings done by Najib which Mahathir could get himself busy – including corruptions and money laundering involving Scorpene submarine, Felda, Tabung Haji, EPF, and of course, the murder of Mongolian model Shaariibuu Altantuya. Heck, there could be leakages involving the GST (Goods and Services Tax) too.

Najib is toast. He has essentially fulfilled the R.A.H.M.A.N prophecy. UMNO political party ends with him being the last president. The name of Razak will be forever tainted by him. History will remember him as the biggest crook in the world, and perhaps the only prime minister who is sent to prison for corruption, money laundering and even murder.
