Like a broken record, Najib’s paid cybertroopers, propagandists and bloggers are still drumming the same old song – that Chinese-based DAP (Democratic Action Party) is going to rule Malaysia if the ethnic-Malays do not vote for Malay-based UMNO (United Malays National Organisation), Malaysia’s largest political party under the leadership of caretaker prime minister Najib.

But who can blame them? After all, they have quota to meet. However, it appears that they have run out of bullets. First, they said DAP was UMNO’s bitch. Then, they said UMNO was DAP’s bitch. Subsequently, they said Lim Kit Siang played Mahathir. The next day, they said Mahathir played Kit Siang. They can’t make up their mind exactly who the real bitch is in the poorly scripted drama.

Running like a headless chicken, there’s little doubt that Malaysian caretaker prime minister Najib Razak is under tremendous pressure. First, he reluctantly dissolved the Parliament (how he wished he had a time-machine) but not before telling the Registrar of Societies (RoS), one of UMNO bitches, to temporary declare his main rival’s party – PPBM or simply Bersatu – illegal.

Pakatan Harapan - Najib Razak and Mahathir Mohamad

To make it juicier, posters of PPBM’s chief, former premier Mahathir Mohamad, is not allowed. The 93-year-old Mahathir should be proud that his posters are such a lethal weapon. That’s fine, says Mahathir. So, let’s use PKR (another component party of the opposition alliance) as a common logo to represent “Bersatu-PKR-DAP-Amanah”.

Suddenly, the Election Commission (EC), another panicked bitch of UMNO, jumped. The supposedly neutral EC announced that any individual wishes to use the PKR logo in the 14th general election must get its approval. After ruling the country for 22 years, Mahathir knew it was bullshit. He simply told the Election Commission to fuck off, to which the EC could only squirm.

One after another, UMNO warlords self-declared there won’t be any “Malay Tsunami”, a popular phrase to mean the uprising of the ethnic-Malay against the highly unpopular Najib Razak. When the Crown Prince Tunku Ismail of the Sultanate of Johor made an unexpected U-turn, urging the people to vote for Najib instead, it pretty much confirmed the downfall of Najib and his minions.

Najib Razak - Santa Claus

Najib has now literally transformed himself into Santa Claus, giving away free cash, free vouchers, free fuel and whatnot. From taxi drivers to royalties, he is on a mission to bribe anyone and anything that he could get his hands on. Heck, if there’s a guarantee that he can win the election, he would probably give away his wife Rosmah too.

In spite of putting up a brave face, Mr. Najib is actually fabulously nervous. The military intelligence was less optimistic this time than the 13th General Election in 2013. His bootlickers, including those of paid cybertroopers, propagandists and bloggers haven’t been fair to him. They keep feeding him cooked-up reports that the Malay voters will continue backing him.

The Malays are today spoilt for choice. On the menu, they can choose UMNO, BERSATU or PAS. The problem with so many options is this: they don’t know which one to choose. Hence, any intelligence or polls to gauge the support becomes less credible. A conversation between two Malays, especially if they are strangers, could not yield accurate information, for fear of backlash.

Malaysia General Election - Malay Voters

Having three Malay-based political parties means the Malay vote bank is further fragmented. Their voting decision will be therefore, based on common grounds. There’s one common marketplace that the intelligence can get a more precise data, but didn’t – the Chinese traders, including Chinese grocers or hardware stores supplying goods to rural Malay folks.

The Malay folks, having dealt with their Chinese suppliers for years, are more open and comfortable in expressing their honest views (or frustrations) with the so-called “kafirs” because they don’t see the Chinese as threats. In general, almost all the Malays wanted to, or at least have expressed their desire to, kick out the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition under the leadership of Najib Razak.

Try spending some time with the Chinese small business owners who deal with Malays and you can see the troubling trend that Najib probably hasn’t realized. While the Chinese can no longer tolerate the excessive corruption practiced by Mr. Najib and his wife, the Malays have a common ground why the BN has to be booted – unbearable high cost of living.

Malaysia - High Cost of Living - Suspended Meal

In fact, the Malays did not only tell the Chinese “taukeh (boss)” that they will vote for opposition, they also admitted of having quarrelled and even scolded their old parents for stupidly supporting UMNO / BN despite all the hardships they are suffering now. And these furious Malays aren’t the first-time voters, mind you.

They are the one voted for UMNO / BN in 2013, the period when Mahathir was busy campaigning for Najib. And it was the same period before the introduction of GST and the emergence of 1MDB scandal, not to mention the scandals hitting FELDA lands and military land secretly siphoned for privatization under the nose of Najib Razak (as alleged by Iron Lady Rafidah Aziz).

Najib’s cybertroopers, propagandists and bloggers can keep trumpeting about anti-Chinese for all the Malays of this hidden group care. Even if they have no intention of voting for opposition, their next option is to stay at home and refuse to vote. Yes, they have decided to either vote for the opposition or not vote at all. That will certainly turn Najib’s pink lips to blue next month.

You’re right. As a silent Malay voter, I’ve argued with my parents over the election. They kept ignoring all the wrongdoings of Najib and UMNO, refusing to accept that they did anything wrong, because ‘we owe them for independence’. I was like “How can you be so close minded? How long ago was independence? Do we have to accept every wrong thing that UMNO did because ‘we owe them’?”

My mom even had the audacity to tell me, on the morning of the election to choose BN and PAS for Parliament and DUN. We had a fight that morning. She told me if I chose PKR, we’d be giving the country to the Chinese. I argued back that Najib has already given the country to the Chinese, not Malaysia’s Chinese, but China’s Chinese. She ignored me, telling me not to listen to slander. I could only facepalmed.

Look, I love my mother, but I just can’t understand why the older generation just can’t see reason. To them, UMNO is the only option, anything else are not even an option. I just can’t understand it. I waited for the whole night and when I saw PH won, I was smiling from ear to ear. Finally, this poison called UMNO and BN will no longer be around to slaughter my parents’ sensibilities. Hopefully, my parents will see the truth finally, and it would grant me a sadistic pleasure to show them Najib’s many wrongdoings that they have been defending as lies and slander all this time. It will be epic.
