Beer drinkers take note – beer is good for you because it keeps your kidney healthy and it’s good for digestion, not to mention full of vitamins – B1, B2, B6 and B12. Beer also makes your bones stronger and reduces risk of heart attack. Heck, you should take barrels of beer if you fancy having beautiful skin and wish to lower bad cholesterol. Besides, didn’t the Chinese believe beer is western version of herbal-tea – an excellent cold remedy alternative (*grin*)?
Well, regardless whether you believe the above or otherwise, beer is a multi-billion dollar industry. But do you know that beer prices can be dirt cheap in some corners of the planet while it could cost you an arm and a leg in other parts of the world? If you’re a heavy drinker, you should stay in Ukraine and Vietnam because a bottle of beer there costs only 50 cents.
Other beer-friendly countries include Cambodia, Saudi Arabia (are you surprise?), Czech Replublic, China and Panama. You can literally get a bottle of beer for less than a buck. However, with the exception of Saudi Arabia, beer prices in Middle East are super expensive. It costs a staggering US$7.71 a bottle in Iran and US$7.09 in Kuwait. For the price of one bottle of beer in Iran, you can get about 13 bottles in Ukraine.
If you think Americans or Russians were the heaviest beer drinkers, think again. The world’s heaviest beer drinkers come from Czech Republic and Australia where they consume 419 and 304 bottles per person annually. Americans were only at 14th place – guzzling a mere 217 bottles per person every year. Drink harder, Americans!!
Surprisingly, although the Germans were the third heaviest drinkers with 299 bottles per person, slightly lower than the Australians, they spent a third less than the land of kangaroos. Australians spend the most on beer per person annually – forking out US$747.90.
Although Ukraine has the cheapest beer, they’re not in the top-10 heaviest beer drinkers. Instead it were Lithuania and Romania, two countries in the top-10 heaviest drinkers who enjoy having their cheap beers all year round. And due to the fact that the top-10 heaviest beer drinkers were from Europe and South America, you may think the best selling beer brands should be from these countries, right?
Wrong – the best selling beer brands worldwide are not co-related to the top-10 countries with the heaviest drinkers. The following information should provide a good puzzle during your next beer session – who can guess the best selling beer brand and its country of origins will be spared from 3-glasses bottom’s up.

Head office: 1 Stanhope Gate, London W1K 1AF

Snow beer, which was first produced in 1993, has a “higher carbonation level” and “aromatic notes which can be attributed to Satz hops imported from the Czech Republic.” But not everyone has heard of this beer brand. The reason – it’s the best selling and most popular beer in China. It’s lighter than Tsingtao and has a bitter, rancid aftertaste. But again, as we said earlier, the Chinese market appreciate it, and that’s all it matters.
There you are – the Top-10 best selling beer brands worldwide. Although Americans top-five best selling imported beer are Corona Extra, Heineken, Modelo Especial, Corona Light and Stella Artois Lager, they were dwarfed by the Chinese brands. Heck, even American’s top selling brand, Corona Extra, can only manage the fifth spot in the Top-10 best selling beer brands.
