In what appears to be another copycat stunt, Hong Kong government under chief minister CY Leung has shown what he was capable of, when his power and wealth are threaten. Just like Malaysian government’s SOP, as can be seen in the past rallies where UMNO provocateurs were unleashed to instigate fights, it seems CY Leung has started using the same method – gangsters.
There’s a distinct trademark with such tactic – these paid provocateurs do not fear anyone including police since they were “protected” by their boss, in this case chief minister CY Leung, who in turns is protected by the Chinese Communist Party. There’s no question that CY Leung is under tremendous pressure to get rid of the stubborn protestors, made primarily by Hong Kong students. Hence, in order to impress his boss in Beijing, triad gangs were unleashed.
On Oct 3 evening, masked men suddenly appeared in Causeway Bay and Mong Kok, instigating student protesters. Besides the peaceful protesters, these thugs also harassed two Al-Jazeera journalists. The masked men who arrived wasting no time but began tearing down barricades. As expected, Hong Kong police only isolated the gangsters and the helpless protesters, without arresting any of the baddies.
Hong Kong police, who had been known to be professional in the past, has its image tainted since the forces started the brutal attack on the peaceful protesters last weekend by happily shooting rubber bullets, tear gassing and pepper spraying. And now, the police force seems to have taken another unthinkable step – allowing the thugs sent by CY Leung (Leung Chun-ying ) to beat the students. Perhaps the police has to make a personal decision, either to protect their rice bowl or perform their duties professionally – they chose the former.
However, due to the heavy presence of international journalists, not to mention the glaring evidence of the thuggish acts of the gang members, police have no choice but to perform (or rather pretend?) some arrests. About 19 people were arrested with about 8 confirmed to be linked to triads. It’s laughable that the highly experienced Mong Kok police could not identify triad gangsters.
If that was not enough to say about the sudden collapse in the island’s police force image, the police was also accused of not acting when women and girls were targeted by the triad gangs of sexual assault, harassment and intimidation. It was indeed a horrible sight that Hong Kong police stood like a statue when the gangster were happily grabbing breasts and touching groins. These triad members spoke heavy-accent “Putonghua” as those spoken in mainland China.
A reporter from RTHK was also beaten by police and that others have been threatened with sexual assault. In another case the FCCHK (Foreign Correspondent’s Club of Hong Kong) reported that in one case police were observed leading a suspect to a taxi instead of arresting him (*grin*). There were also numerous reports of police seemingly arresting offenders but then releasing them minutes later. Doesn’t this sound like UMNO thugs? (*tongue-in-cheek*)
The fact is – you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see why police saw it fit to use pepper spray and tear gas against peaceful protesters; but did nothing against hundreds of triad members attacking protesters and even challenge the police to arrest them. OK, let’s see how the Hong Kong police seemingly working hand in glove with the gangsters to not only intimidate and beat the peaceful protesters, but also sexually assault women and girls. What a shame to the Hong Kong police force!!!
The triad gangs who wear mask started to violently throw down barricades and instigate fights with protesters.
Triad members started pushing against the barriers set up by the protesters, while the other camp held their ground.
Standoff – the protesters pointed to the violent anti-occupiers, while the police try to separate them, but without arresting the gangsters, much to the protesters’ surprise.
These masked men seemed to have no fear of the police. And the police seemed to be not interested in arresting them. It seemed both masked men and the police understand that their payroll came from the same person.
This seemed like a drama episode from Hong Kong TVB. The masked gangster instigate the police to fight but the police just stood there doing nothing – Cool.
This protester was seen crying and heart-broken the Hong Kong police was not interested in arresting the thugs. Cry baby, cry, but how could you expect the police to arrest their thuggish brothers – they’re on the same payroll, dude.
Some pro-democracy protesters who were attacked by gangster in Mong Kok on day six of the mass civil disobedience campaign. Interestingly, Hong Kong police weren’t interested in arresting the instigators.
These Hong Kong police were bravely shooting tear gas and pepper spray at peaceful protesters last weekend. Suddenly, they only knew how to form human chain against the triad members?
Trying to get further advice from your boss CY Leung on the next level of damage on the peaceful protesters? How about grabbing breast and sexual assault?
Another triad gang member assaulting women. Great job CY Leung, you should unleash such efficient team instead of wasting tear gas and pepper sprays at the early stage.
Another drama? Why this police prefers to shout without the guts to arrest the thuggish man, even though the triad gangster seemed to instigate a fight and challenge the Hong Kong police? Perhaps both have the same boss – the Hong Kong Government.
Instead of protecting the innocent, these Hong Kong police’s gestures seemed to be warning the journalists not to report anything “bad” which could tarnish the police’s image. Perhaps, these those police officers will get their promotions soon.
Journalists seemed to be upset that the police were protecting the troublemakers who suddenly attacks the protesters.
The journalists followed an accused triad member, who was “protected” by the Hong Kong police force. After ushered the thuggish guy into the police van, he was drove away (to be freed?)
After failure in using police to break the protesters last weekend, Hong Kong chief CY Leung decided to use triad gangs to intimidate them.
Another photo in what seemed to be gang members launching their attacks violently at the protesters, just like the island TVB’s drama.
Arrest me if you dare!!! That seemed to be the challenge thrown by this thuggish to the Hong Kong police force. Surprisingly, the police didn’t seem to be interest in arresting him.
