Who The Hell Is Anwar To Tell DAP Not To Quit Melaka Govt

By hook or by crook, the Democratic Action Party (DAP) must win the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election. After losing 40% of its seats in the Johor state election on July 11, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook is under tremendous pressure. Not only he has to retain Negeri Sembilan – his “home ground” – but he also needs to lead DAP to a convincing win on August 1.

The previous state election saw Pakatan Harapan, a coalition comprising DAP (11 seats), PKR (5) and Amanah (1), winning 17 seats. But the election was held under an alliance between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) coalitions that enabled them to win a two-thirds supermajority, securing 31 of 36 seats. Now that PH and BN go solo, PH has to win at least 19 seats to form a government.

But if opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN), which captured 5 seats in the August 2023 state polls, decides to pull a Johor in Negeri Sembilan – ordering its supporters to vote for BN even if it means committing suicide – PH could be “Game Over”. Based on BN’s latest move to contest only 25 seats, leaving the remaining 11 seats open to “others”, it appears BN and PN have joined forces against PH.

DAP Anthony Loke Gave PKR Anwar Ibrahim 6-month Notice

Even if Mr. Tony is still in denial and delusion, the writing is on the wall. The Chinese support for DAP is no longer 95%. Thanks to his cowardice, DAP would be lucky if it could retain its current 11 seats in Negeri Sembilan. However, DAP’s ability to retain 11 seats does not mean other partners, especially PKR, could do the same. It is being burdened to win more to compensate for the potential loses of PKR, the weakest link.

Therefore, it was not a coincidence that DAP’s chapter quit the Malacca state government on July 14, just a few days after PH suffered a humiliating defeat in Johor. All of PH’s five state assembly members had withdrawn their support for the BN-led Melaka government following disagreement over a Bill designed to create new vacancies for unelected, appointed assembly members.

But every Tom, Dick, and Harry knew the resignation was just a political drama to show that DAP Malacca is brave and isn’t a toothless tiger. They knew their withdrawal doesn’t impact the current state government, as BN holds 21 of the 28 seats, giving it a supermajority regardless of PH’s backing. Besides, there are only a few months left before the state legislative assembly’s current term expires in December 2026.

Melaka Pakatan Harapan Assemblymen

Nevertheless, desperate times call for desperate measures. The theater needed to be staged in Melaka to rally the support from the ethnic Chinese in order to boost DAP’s chances in Negeri Sembilan. Anthony Loke would see an egg on his face if the Chinese support for DAP drops further to 70% or lower, or worse throw their support for rival BN just to teach DAP a lesson.

Then KABOOM – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim suddenly – and deliberately – threw a spannerin the works. The power-hungry Premier told Melaka PH to postpone its decision of quitting the state government and instead negotiate with the state leadership. His argument for the Melaka PH to make a U-turn was comical – so that it could focus on development and the well-being of the people.

Exactly what type of development for the well-being of the people that the BN government cannot deliver without PH’s participation in Melaka? Even if there is, what can Melaka PH do for the remaining few months left? And what is there to negotiate when the Bill has already been passed and becomes law. There’s no turning back and BN Melaka does not give two hoots about PH or Anwar, let alone DAP.

PM Anwar Ibrahim - Toxic Brand

Amusingly, Anwar said he had yet to be briefed on the internal issues surrounding the withdrawal of four Melaka DAP state assemblymen from the state government. Were all his advisers and political secretaries sleeping on the job and did not bother to brief him on the development in Melaka? Even if his errand boys were just a bunch of useless parasites, the reason for the withdrawal has been widely reported and clearly explained.

Unless Anwar is retarded, which part of disagreement over a Bill allowing up to seven “unelected members” with voting rights in Melaka that the genius Prime Minister doesn’t understand, or pretends to not understand? Crucially, who the hell is Anwar, whose Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) won only 1 seat in Johor, to tell DAP Melaka what to do and what not to do when PKR Melaka has zero seat in the state?

Yes, PKR lost all its 3 seats in the 2021 Melaka state election. Without any representative, the weakling PKR should not interfere in the decision of DAP Melaka led by chairman Khoo Poay Tiong to quit the BN government. Did Anwar brief DAP Melaka before he unilaterally gave away taxpayers’ money to the tune of RM200 million to Hamas or allocated RM2 billion to Jakim?

This is another classic example why spineless Loke Siew Fook should have pulled DAP out of PH and abandoned the highly toxic Anwar Ibrahim. If DAP Melaka reverses its decision to quit, it would make DAP look like a lapdog worse than rival MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association), which doubled its seats to eight in the recent Johor state election, surpassing DAP’s six seats.

To win back support, DAP has to show that it is not subservient to the People’s Justice Party, let alone the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), which leads the BN government in Melaka. For Anwar to interfere in DAP’s tactical move, it certainly smells a rat. Rather than respecting DAP Melaka’s decision, it’s suspicious that the PM is trying very hard to sabotage DAP to help UMNO wins elections.

The burning question is why Mr Anwar was so terrified of UMNO that he has to kowtow to the corrupt and racist party to the extent of knocking down partner DAP at every turn? It was already bad that he had facilitated a royal pardon for UMNO crooks like Najib Razak, dropped 47 corruption charges on Zahid Hamidi, and allowed Akmal Saleh to terrorize the Chinese community and business.

Anwar Ibrahim with Zahid Hamidi - Laugh

It becomes worse when the PM-obsessed Anwar tells DAP to surrender to UMNO for fear of offending BN as he shamelessly clings to power. If he is as popular and indispensable as his bootlickers have been trumpeting, he should not “chicken out” but stand firm together with comrade DAP with courage and dignity. After all, his Madani federal government is still rock solid, no?

Was it not Anwar who bragged that he would still be the Prime Minister regardless of whether PH wins or loses Johor? In the same breath, he is still the PM even if PH wins or loses Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka for that matter. His cowardice in undermining DAP Melaka’s strategic move only confirms that PH under his weak leadership is fast losing power and has become BN’s puppet.

Hilariously, Melaka Chief Minister, Ab Rauf Yusoh, torpedoed PM Anwar’s attempt to reverse the clock, saying that there is no more room for negotiation after resignation letters were submitted yesterday. Exactly what type of message is the Premier sending by begging profusely even after being backstabbed and betrayed by BN in Negeri Sembilan and Johor?

Anwar Ibrahim - Alone Worry

It shows Anwar’s incompetence and weakness – desperation to cling to power at all costs, including cooking a laughable excuse why DAP Melaka should reconsider its withdrawal from the BN government. It also shows his cowardice in confronting BN. More importantly, it shows Anwar’s stupidity in strengthening enemies whilst weakening own allies. No wonder even Akmal disrespects the PM.

And it definitely shows PKR’s lack of confidence to face UMNO in the next 16th General Election at a critical time when PH should show some dignity, principle, and strength. It’s time for Anthony Loke to wake up and decisively dump Anwar, who is beyond repair. DAP should go solo and abandon the sinking ship. Like it or not, Anwar’s brand is rotten and is dragging DAP down with him.
