Malaysians celebrate their Independence Day every year on August 31. In case you didn’t realize, it was also the same day that Diana, Princess of Wales, died exactly 17 years ago in 1997. Besides her jewellery and cash, one of the greatest gifts that she had left for her sons is perhaps her 25-feet infamous wedding dress. But the dress was in her brother, Earl Spencer’s possession until now, 17-years later.

Lord Spencer says Diana’s will specifically stated that her belongings were to be “looked after” by him until both of her sons turned 30, at which point they would transfer into their possession. Buckingham Palace confirmed on Sunday that the dress and some of Diana’s other cherished personal possessions were being returned to William and Harry. Of course, given a choice, both princes would love to exchange these materials for their mother, alive.

Next month will be Prince Harry’s 30th birthday, and he is set to receive £10 million (US$16.6 million; RM52.3 million) of his mother’s fortune. Apparently, as stipulated in Diana’s will, both Prince William and Harry will inherit £10 million each. Prince William had received his share of the fortune on his 30th birthday  two years ago in 2012. And this year will be Prince Harry’s turn.

Nevertheless, the total amount Harry will receive is expected to be more than that of his brother, due to the accumulated interest in the past two years. Diana’s fortune included stocks and shares, jewellery, cash from her £17 million divorce settlement, dresses and other personal belongings at her Kensington Palace apartment. The wealth were held in trust to be shared equally between her two sons.

Prince Harry, who is also known as Captain Harry Wales, will turn 30 on September 15. He is currently earning £38,847 (US$64,495; RM203,174) a year as an Army captain. The handsome, cute and charming but party-hard Prince Harry had split with girlfriend Cressida Bonas in April this year, after a two year relationship. Obviously, dating a British Prince was not an easy task.

The 25-year-old Bonas was under tremendous pressure with all the attention that came with being linked to one of the world’s most eligible bachelors. Interestingly, Harry was introduced to Bonas by his cousin, Princess Eugenie. After his brother Prince William got married, everybody was expecting both Harry and Cressida to get married and such expectation was too much for the young girl.

Now, the eligible royal is rumoured to have a new girlfriend, 25-year-old Camilla Thurlow, a former beauty queen. Surprisingly, she shares the same name with Harry’s stepmother, Camilla Parker. According to USA Today, “They (Harry and Camilla) were spotted kissing among a group of friends at a Mexican bar/nightclub in London in July”.

The pair was spotted on a luxury yacht with friends in Saint-Tropez last week to celebrate the Prince’s 30th birthday in a few weeks.Coincidently, Camilla (former Miss Edinburg), who got a first-class honours degree in sport and exercise science at Loughborough University, works for the Halo Trust, the landmines organisation once supported by Princess Diana.

Prior to his relationship with Cressida Bonas, Prince Harry had dated Chelsea Davy on and off for six years, before they broke up after the royal wedding in 2011. Apparently, Davy didn’t want to become a princess. Will Harry finally settle down this round? But how could this time be any different? Well, perhaps Harry loves how Camilla devoted her life to charity, the same way he sees goodness in his own mother – Princess Diana.
