Dubai is a paradise in the Middle East. It is one of the most exciting cities in the world, and its property market is super volatile. If the people were not busy drilling oil or engaged in camel racing, they would probably gambling in the stock market or speculating the real estate. Their stock and property markets have been crashing and booming numerous times – like a roller coaster.
Tourism and real estate are the two sectors that drive the economy. The property development in Dubai is pretty scary though. About 24% of the world’s construction cranes are in Dubai. You do not hear “million” when discuss about property market here. The word is “billion”, and there’re tons of multi-billion mega projects in progress or being conceived.
Strangely, 85% of its population is foreigners – only 15% population is Emiratis. Besides expatriates, there are tons of imported cheap labours primarily from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Dubai is also the biggest transit city for gold in the world last year (2013) with around 40% of the global physical gold trade passing through the city at 2,250 tonnes worth a staggering US$75 billion.
Hotels in Dubai attracted over 11 million guests in 2013, representing a 10.6% increase over 2012. Hotel revenues stood at Dh21.84 billion (US$6 billion, £3.5 billion, RM18.9 billion) for 2013, achieving a 16.1% increase over 2012. Dubai has a target of 20 million visitors annually by 2020. Naturally, Dubai is obsess with luxury, extravagance and class.
And to maintain Dubai as the luxury city of the Middle East, Dubai Police has done the unthinkable. The police force has “upgraded” its patrol cars with impressive supercar since last year, and going by the rate the department is doing it, it is not going to stop anytime soon. Last year, Dubai cops unveiled a McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari FF, a Lamborghini, an Aston Martin One-77, Bentley Continental GT and Mercedes SLS.
While cops in the emirates also drive the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Kia Mohave, the first supercar added to the fleet was a Lamborghini. And early this year, it had added another new baby – the Bugatti Veyron. Let’s take a look at all the supercars that the lucky Dubai Police force are pampered with.
{ 1 } Lamborghini Aventador – what better car to impress the public if not a $550,000 Lambo with a 6.5-liter V12 engine? But is this a practical police car, considering it’s a two-seat car, nevermind it has a whopping 700 horsepower? Where do you plan to put your suspects under arrest? On the roof top, perhaps? Dubai Police said it was merely to “show off” and nothing more.
{ 2 } Ferrari FF – this exotic super car was purchased primarily for the women. Now, nobody can accuse Dubai of being discriminate against women since Dubai Police Women are driving Ferrari FF. And they could give the policemen a run for their supercar with this 6.3-liter V12 engine beast.
{ 3 } Mercedes Benz SLS AMG – after Lambo and Ferrari, this $200,000 two-seat cars which can go from 0 to 60 mph in under 4-seconds were purchased.
{ 4 } Bentley Continental GT – something seems to be missing without this $175,00 to $215,000 Bentley, so why not just purchase a couple of them.
{ 5 } Aston Martin One-77 – this is by far the most exotic because there’s only 77 units produces on planet Earth. And Dubai Police is using one of them, how luxury (and wasteful). The red leather interior of this machine looks very luxury. Estimated price tag: US$1.79 million.
{ 6 } Chevrolet Camaro SS – one of the latest acquisition, this 6.2-liter V8 machine produces 426 horsepower which is expected to catch up with any bad guys out there in the desert. Perhaps the reason why Dubai Police purchased it was not to be used on the street but rather hope for this machine to transform into – BumbleBee. Transform !!! Nah.
{ 7 } Ford Mustang GT – this is not an ordinary Ford but in fact a Mustang GT Roush edition with a whopping 600 horsepower.
{ 8 } Bugatti Veyron – this is the latest toy added to the Dubai Police inventories early this year. Veyron is the fastest street-legal production car in the world, with a top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph). If Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Aston Martin One-77 were not good enough to catch the abundance criminals in Dubai, this US$1.6 million Veyron should be able to do the work.
Actually Dubai Police have other cars in their fleet as well such as the BMW 5-Series. But it was said that only the very unlucky cops will end up behind the wheel of BMW. They also have Audi R8 V10, Nissan GTR and even Brabus 700 Widestar G Wagen. If you want to become a policeman, make sure you be part of the 15,000 strong and luxury police force for the city of Dubai.

When people think of Dubai, extravagance is what springs to mind! I must say that the Dubai police force have the most outrageously expensive (and coolest) fleet in the world.
