In the food and beverage (F&B) industry, you’re only as good as your distinct formulas. But what was constituted as a winning formula strategy in the past may no longer applicable today. It’s still alright if the formulas were your invention or family-inherited secret recipe. However, it’s definitely a tough market if you’re in a franchise market such as McDonald’s.
It’s a trend now where good looking young men or hot chicks were used to attract customers. You’ve read about smoking hot Taiwanese “Bean Curd (Tau Foo Fah) Prince” attracting ladies to a bean curd shop. Then you’ve “Pork Princess” who has attracted an army of admirers after joining her family butcher business in China.
Not to be left out, Malaysia has its muscular Jay Chou look-alike Jordan Yeoh caught with his mouth-watering six pack abs selling durian. If you have enough of such hunky street vendors, let’s explore the fast food industry. Thanks to a blogger called “Raindog” who shared some photos online, a “McDonald’s Goddess” is born.
That’s the name that’s been given to a McDonald’s worker in Taiwan. Called the cutest goddess who works under the golden arches in the country, Wei Han Hsu – also known as WeiWei – has given social media users a reason to visit the otherwise boring Ronald McDonald’s clown restaurant again.
People have gotten themselves all gaga over WeiWei, where female staffs show up to work in maids’ outfits, pastel pink nurse uniforms, sexy doctors, flight attendants, cheerleader uniforms or schoolgirl uniforms with knee-high socks. As kinky and pervert as it may sound, such marketing gimmicks work quite well in Taiwan.
Taiwanese netizens were instantly smitten with WeiWei’s big-round-eyes and sweet smile, and the business couldn’t be better with everyone scrambled to find out which McDonald’s outlet their newly found goddess worked at. Currently a college student, the doll-like WeiWei has been working part-time at McDonald’s for five years, it was claimed.
Hmm, she’s been working there for so long and nobody had actually noticed her cuteness until now? Well, that’s because she was dressed in maid dress previously. After her photos went viral, the petite beauty has appeared on several Taiwanese variety programs. Her Facebook has close to 90,000 “Likes” while Instagram has 35,000 followers, and counting.
Initially, some users have claimed the photos weren’t real and she doesn’t actually exist, simply because she’s too cute and “kawaii” to be true. Some even said she’s not a human but a robot – McRobot. Well, that’s the power of makeup. Heck, some said she was just an 11-year-old kid being forced into hard labour (*grin*).
She did mention in a variety show that her manager isn’t too happy about her fame because the flock of visitors to the counter were trying to talk or snap photos of her, not about buying any meals. So, if you wish to visit her at a McDonald’s outlet located along Jianguo South Road of the Da’an District in Taipei City, remember to buy something, anything.
