Had Houthis been Jews who attacked Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim would have screamed his lungs out to civilize Jews in support of Muslim brother Saudis. Had Iran been Israel that blocked and attacked commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, Anwar would have organized a million-strong protest to condemn the Jewish barbaric and uncivilized blockade of the international waterway.

Had Indonesia been Israel responsible for the current haze crisis, leading to the Southeast Asian’s worst wildfire and air pollution disaster in 11 years, PM Anwar would have sued Israel for open burning and causing millions of people to breathe in highly toxic smoke. Had Jakarta been Tel Aviv, he would not have said that Malaysia has “done everything we can” regarding the transboundary haze crisis.

Had Indonesian Government Communications Agency chief Syahganda Nainggolan been an Israeli minister who said – “We do not just send smoke, but when there is no smoke, we send oxygen” – Anwar Ibahim would have mocked, ridiculed, and criticized the stupid remarks. But Saudi, Iran, and Indonesia are Muslim countries, whilst the Houthis, Iranians, and Indonesians are Muslim brothers.

Hamas Terrorists - Anwar Ibrahim Thumbs Up

So, hypocrite Anwar dares not excessively condemn Iran-backed Houthis the same way he had condemned Israeli’s attacks in Gaza. The Hamas supporter also dares not slam Tehran about the Iranian regime’s blockade of Hormuz which spiked the global oil prices. And he certainly has no balls to lecture, let alone pressure, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to solve the haze issues.

The “munafik” only dares to attack foreign Jewish and domestic non-Malays. Even then, he only selectively attacks non-Muslims. He happily welcomed pro-Israel Donald Trump, dancing together when the U.S. president stepped on Malaysian soil in October 2025. And now, PM Anwar has found a new way to attack Israel – Waze – under the pretext of national security.

Unable to solve the haze problems, the prime minister chose to ban civil servants – effective October 21, 2026 – from using navigation app Waze, citing security concerns linked to its origins in ‌Israel. Founded in Israel, Waze uses satellite signals and crowd-sourced data from drivers to offer real-time traffic information. However, it was acquired by Alphabet-owned Google in 2013.

Anwar Ibrahim Bans Waze

On Thursday (Oct 22), a day after Anwar hastily ordered the ban, Waze said that claims it collected sensitive government information or allowed any entity to exploit personal user data were completely false – “Waze operates under strict privacy policies that protect user data and comply with global legal data protection standards.”

The burning question is exactly why an app which recorded 6.3 million monthly active users as early as 2019, with about 2.5 million users located in Kuala Lumpur alone, has suddenly become a national security threat? And why practise double standards by banning only Waze, but not Google Maps, despite the fact that both apps are owned by Google?

Does the genius Anwar realize that Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin both have Jewish heritage? When did he find out that Waze, being used in Malaysia since around 2012, has become a dangerous app? Crucially, why PM Anwar welcomed Google’s US$2 billion (RM9.4 billion) investment in Malaysia back in May 2024, if indeed Israel is such a threat?

Anwar had said the government was looking into potential security risks arising from ‌the use of Waze, which means there isn’t any proven threat yet. At best, it’s an anti-Jews and anti-Israel fearmongering campaign by exaggerating risks or spreading rumours. At worst, it’s a distraction tactic to divert attention from Anwar’s political scandals, corruption, corporate mafia and cronyism.

Yes, it has nothing to do with Waze collecting user personal information, but everything to do with enriching Anwar’s cronies. Suspiciously, the Premier has recommended the use of TuJu, a domestic mapping app developed by the Malaysian Highway Authority, a statutory government body, in partnership with a private firm named Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd.

One of Prosignal’s directors is Selat Klang state assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari, who previously chaired LLM when the collaboration started in 2022. He has also declared political support for Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari (aligned with Anwar Ibrahim’s Unity Government) in March 2024. The chairman of Prosignal Consortium is Mohammed Abdullah (the Undang Luak of Johol).

TuJu App

Interestingly, other prominent figures on the board of the company included former IGP (Inspector-General of Police) Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, who is a non-executive director. Its Deputy Chairman & Managing Director, Mohd Edzreen Mohd Din, was a former Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) staff member. It’s obvious why Anwar is pushing TuJu over Waze using Israel as a punching bag.

Get real, every app collect user information – from Google to Facebook, and from Waze to Instagram. Heck, even TuJu admits that “We may collect personal information that you provide to us directly.” Therefore, Anwar must first provide evidence that not only Waze has collected sensitive government information or exploited personal user data, but also prove that the locally developed TuJu is secure.

It’s totally irresponsible for anti-Jews Anwar to accuse Waze of exploiting, misuse, or manipulating user information without a shred of evidence, but blindly promoting TuJu which is actually built on Google’s mapping and location data. Worse, public money was used without an open tender when Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd was chosen to co-develop the TuJu navigation app.

Anwar Ibrahim Bans Civil Servants From Using Waze

The real problem with loss-making TuJu is not only about its directors, shareholders and links with politicians, but also about the app itself. TuJu has drawn complaints from app review platforms and users on social media, with some reporting inaccurate route guidance, glitches and a lack of real-time traffic information. It also lacks speed limit alerts and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

A copycat of Waze, half-baked Tuju makes the app more dangerous than a replacement for Waze. The Google-owned app may be subject to the laws of the Israeli government, but at least it is not an application that is defective like TuJu that could threaten the “personal security” of its users. Arguably, even if Waze is collecting information, there’s nothing to be afraid of as long as you’re not a Hamas terrorist.

Even Yeo Bee Yin, a government lawmaker who is also DAP (Democratic Action Party) national publicity secretary, could easily smell Anwar’s stupidity when she advised the narcissist PM to consult industry experts and navigation technology specialists before deciding whether to impose a nationwide ban on Waze – warning that a hasty decision could disrupt millions of Malaysians who rely on the application.

GrabFood - Food Delivery

Yeo said the proposed ban could affect more than six million road users who depend on real-time navigation. She questioned why Gulf Cooperation Council nations had not banned Waze despite their proximity to the Middle East conflict and stringent national security measures. “A reactionary ban risks unnecessary public disruption, economic friction for the gig economy and reputational damage to Malaysia’s digital landscape,” – she said.

Anwar hardcore supporters could choose to remove Waze for all we care. But the racist and radical PM has no right to tell what app the people can use or cannot use just because he is trying to fish for Malay-Muslim votes by weaponizing Israel. It’s not a coincidence that nearly four years in office, he suddenly targets Waze when Melaka and Sarawak state elections are around the corner, with the 16th General Election coming soon.
