Arab social media networks were celebrating the burning of Israel last month as parts of the port city of Haifa in northern Israel were ablaze as wildfires raged through the country for a third day. Tens of thousands of people were evacuated as the fire devoured forests and damaged homes. The unusually strong winds and a dry atmosphere didn’t help the situation.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attributed the fires to “natural and unnatural” causes and said that “any fire caused by arson or incitement to arson is terrorism in every sense of the word, and we will treat it as such.” However, when asked how long Haifa was likely to be battling the blazes, Mayor Yona Yahav told reporters – “This is a question that has to be referred to God.”
The hashtag “Israel is burning” has become one of the top trends on Arab media, with countless of people gloating over the fire plaguing Israel. The imam of Kuwait’s Grand Mosque, Sheikh Mishary Alfasy Rashid, wished “Best of luck to the fires. #Israel_IsBurning,” followed by a smiley face icon to his 11-million Twitter followers.
Now, a footage of a strange phenomenon has swept the social media about God protecting Israel. Apparently, a massive cloud of dust and rain apparently stopped on the border of Israel and Syria, without entering Israel’s Golan Heights region. Social media have suggested that the storm was “divine intervention” to protect Israelis against the ISIS terror group.
The bizzare storm reportedly hit on 1 December close to where Daesh (ISIS, ISIL, IS) jihadists had directly targeted Israeli troops for the first time on November 27. Margaret Tilford commented – “If they had cell phones back when God parted the Red Sea and led the Israelites it would have looked like this!”
Anna Rider Pollutro added – “That is God. Israel is the Apple of His eye. Those who hate Israel God hates, those who love Israel God loves. He will defend Israel at all times. Nothing can tear her down. When God is for you nothing can stand against you.” However, Matt Hingley wrote – “Actually, sorry to be boring, but it’s simply a weather phenomenon.”
The footage of the strange meteorological phenomenon was uploaded to Facebook by Israel News Online – “A weather phenomenon occurred at 8am Thursday on the other side of the Syrian border, in the same place where ISIS attacked Israel. This strange storm of what appears to be dust, cloud and rain did NOT cross the border fence into Israel. It sat like a barrier between ISIS and Israel.”
