Race C Bribes, Race M Receives – But It’s Race M Who Asks For Bribes First

Corruption was not born yesterday and it is as old as human civilization. The First Dynasty (3100–2700 BC) of Ancient Egypt noted corruption in its judiciary. In fact, the World Bank estimates international bribery exceeds US$1.5 trillion annually. Corruption permeates all levels of society from low-level public servants accepting petty bribes to national leaders stealing millions of dollars.

No single nation, civilization, race, or religion can claim they are corruption-free. The only difference is the level of corruption infecting each society. When Hadi Awang, president of PAS Islamist party, conveniently blamed non-Muslims as the roots of corruption back in 2022, it was nothing but a cheap excuse to hide the fact that his own race, Malay-Muslims, was equally corrupted.

Yesterday, a Terengganu state executive councilor, Azman Ibrahim, has made another racist statement with the same intention to hide the very fact that Malay-Muslims were as corrupt as the Egyptian thousands of years ago. Like his boss Hadi, Mr Azman claimed that “Race C often gives bribes whilst Race M often receives bribes” – a reference to the ethnic Chinese and ethnic Malay, respectively.

Corruption in Malaysia - Cash and Valuables

The PAS lawmaker made the remarks in a response to a Sarawakian MP, Willie Mongin, who had defended the Dayak community by saying that while his people eat pork, they do not engage in corruption. Mr Willie voiced his frustration over ongoing criticisms aimed at those who consume pork, including members of his Dayak community – an ethnic group native to Borneo.

Apparently, Willie was upset by social media comments that mocked and insulted the food traditions of other communities, particularly pork. “I want to remind Malaysians not to insult the food of other races. As Dayaks, we have never insulted or humiliated other people’s food. That’s why many of us who eat pork do not take bribes, do not take drugs, and do not so strange things,” – he said.

“But we are accused of eating pork and being uncivilized. I think this must stop. I see many people were saying pork is dirty, smelly, and so on. This shows a lack of respect for other people’s food,” – said the Sarawak lawmaker. “If pork has a certain smell, what about budu (fermented fish sauce) and belacan? We have never insulted them,” – argued Willie Mongin.

This is a classic example of one man’s meat is another man’s poison. Clearly, Willie was targeting Type M, who avoids pork like a plague. But the food considered toxic by the Malay community is considered a fundamental cuisine – delicacy – of not only the non-Malay community, but also as the primary source of animal protein for thousands of years for other races around the world.

Those who insulted pork should realize that the same uncivilized pork eaters they despise so much were the ones who had invented aeroplanes, electricity, smartphones, WiFi, 5G, social media, radio, television, electric vehicles, satellites, banking systems, solar power, antibiotics, medicine, vaccines, compass, paper, gunpowder, printing, and cars, without which “Race M” would still be riding camels to schools today.

It seems consuming the smelly pork somehow makes one more creative, innovative and smarter, no? If they hate pork eaters so much, they should actually boycott money, including taxes, from ethnic Chinese, Dayak, and other non-Malays. It screams munafiq (hypocrisy) for Type M to blame Type C for corruption when Type M happily accepts money tainted with smelly pork.

Malaysia JAKIM - Pork Money

Exactly why fake holy man Azman Ibrahim dragged the ethnic Chinese into his “holier than thou” war with Willie when the argument was that the Dayak does not take bribes or drugs compared to Type M? That’s because if Dayak is being compared to Malay, the champion in the corruption contest is obvious. By dragging Chinese into the argument, PAS hopes to “dilute corruption” linked to Malays.

Mr Azman was trying to create a false narrative that had the Chinese not given bribes, the Malays would not have accepted it. This indirectly put all the blame on Type C as the root of corruption. Here’s a simple question for the PAS Islamist party – “Would Race M still blindly accept it if the bribes are replaced with pork?” So why accept bribes but not pork?

He was also trying to make it like a “chicken-and-egg situation”. But this is not a problem of dependency because Race M can always walk away from bribes offered by Race C. So, why do the Malays find it so hard to walk away?  The only reason they refuse to reject bribery is that they are lustful for corruption, despite Islamic teaching that prohibits all forms of corruption.

PAS Azman Ibrahim

Yes, if Type M does not ask for bribes, Type C won’t give. The Terengganu Exco talked as if the Chinese are so rich and have nothing better to do than offer bribes without a good reason. Who in their right mind would give away hard-earned money if not forced to? And the primary reason why Malays demand bribes is that Race M dominates the civil service.

From lowest rank police officers to Army Chief, and from government servants to Prime Minister, corruption has become a culture in every institution in Malaysia. In fact, based on data from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding investigations between 2015 and mid-2025, Malays accounted for 75% of the bribe-soliciting cases.

Gone were the days where corruption would involve both Malays and Chinese. The Race M has since graduated from depending on Chinese to give bribes, thanks to “Father of Corruption” – former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Today, the Malays whom PAS shamelessly tried to defend as innocent bribe takers have become a masters who possess skillsets in corruption without Race C.

Corruption - Army Chief Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan

The latest scandal involving despicable Army Chief Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan and his wife Salwani Anuar – each were charged with four counts of money laundering involving nearly RM2.2 million – linked to irregularities in military procurement is a great example Malays still receive bribes without Chinese participation. This alone proves that Race C does not simply give bribes if not pressured by Race M.

The corruption scandal plaguing the Malaysian Armed Forces was so serious that the MACC has seized and frozen over RM52 million in cash, gold, luxury goods and funds from more than 80 bank accounts linked to army procurement contracts. A total of 23 people, including armed forces personnel and civilians, have been arrested. King Sultan Ibrahim described the corruption as just the “tip of the iceberg”.

Even the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS – Parti Islam Se-Malaysia), supposedly the holiest political party, was involved in corruption. Has Azman forgotten how his own party supremo – PAS president Hadi Awang – was bribed with RM90 million by then-PM Najib Razak to sabotage and betray friends and allies in the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat not many moons ago?

Najib Razak and Hadi Awang - Opposition Break-Up and RM90 Million

The corruption was revealed by whistleblower Sarawak Report, exposing how Hadi was himself bribed with RM90 million by then-PM Najib Razak to quit and split then-Opposition Pakatan Rakyat after the 2013 General Election. The grand plan was to split the votes by engaging in three-cornered contests in the 2018 general election, which eventually backfired and saw Najib lost power instead.

In a reverse psychology game to hoodwink gullible PAS-Malay supporters, Hadi tried to sue Sarawak Report in London, United Kingdom in 2016. But the Islamist party president panicked when Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown submitted a shocking 20-minute audio recording as evidence that PAS had indeed received millions in cash from UMNO, Najib’s political party.

In the audio recording, Nik Abduh, the son of PAS former spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz, was caught in his remarks to a delegation of PAS members admitting that PAS top leaders – including himself – had accepted money from UMNO, in order to further the party’s political agenda. The meeting was held over debates amongst PAS leaders about the scandal of the party receiving money.

Hadi Awang RM90 Million Scandal - Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown and Anwar Ibrahim

Ultimately, Hadi chickened out and did not proceed with the lawsuit. With tail between legs, he quietly paid RM1.4 million as part of an out-of-court settlement in February 2019 to the Sarawak Report website. The settlement between Hadi Awang and Clare Rewcastle-Brown can only mean one thing – the PAS president and his minions had indeed received RM90 million bribes from UMNO in 2016.

Was Hadi Awang, Nik Abduh or Najib a Chinese? Was UMNO or PAS a Chinese political party? Nope, not a single Chinese was involved in the RM90 million political bribery. This scandal contradicts Terengganu state executive councilor Azman Ibrahim’s statement which seems to blame Race C as bribe givers whilst exonerate Race M for receiving bribes.

Worse, when Race C reports corruption involving Race M, the Malays, who dominate every enforcement agency in the country, would “punish” the Chinese. This has been proven when a businessman-cum-whistleblower Albert Tei was intimidated, harassed and arrested with the MACC officers pointing a gun at his head after Tei exposed corruption involving Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and his minions.

Corruption Scandal in PMO - Albert Tei Arrested by MACC Anti-Corruption Commandos

Rubbing salt in the wound, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki – both clearly Malays – were working hand-in-glove as prosecutor, judge and executioner in declaring Hajiji Noor (another Malay) not guilty even before he was grilled and interrogated, let alone charged in court. Today, Hajiji remains free to continue his plundering, while Albert has been charged and humiliated.

The best part is, even if a Type M crook had been successfully arrested, charged and jailed, he would still enjoy special privileges with deep discounts on jail sentence (50% discount) and fines (75% discount) because a Type M Premier believes the Type M former premier belongs to the Elite group, therefore, deserves forgiveness and royal pardon even after the crook had stolen billions from national coffers.

Even if the entire Chinese community disappears from Malaysia, corruption will continue. If Corruption Perception Index (CPI) Rankings is any indicator, Malaysia’s corruption could plunge for the worse. Several Arab and Muslim states frequently appear on lists of the most corrupt nations, including Somalia, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Syria.

Research indicates that the adoption of Islam as a state religion does not inherently reduce corruption. Rather, in some cases, the institutionalization of religion has been linked to higher corruption levels, suggesting that institutional frameworks and governance structures are more influential than religious adherence alone. Corruption is deeply linked with authoritarianism, where a lack of transparency and accountability allows leaders to retain control.
